Computer Information Systems Associate (A.A.S.) Degree
Today's businesses are continually demanding greater use of new information technologies in order to remain competitive in our ever-expanding economy. Obtaining an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Computer Information Systems from Bramson ORT College will prepare graduates to handle important issues involving the implementation of these newer technologies, such as configuring Cisco and Microsoft Networks, implementing SQL Server and Oracle databases, designing and developing company web pages using Macromedia Flash, administering network security, managing computer service and repairs, operating different software packages, writing business proposals, and preparing presentations. Information and Computer Systems managers are essential in planning an organization’s future, maintaining Internet support, and supervising security operations.
Bramson ORT College’s Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education in computer technology and information systems. Students will complete a set of required courses that will enable them to better understand the basic principles of computer information systems. They will then have the opportunity to choose a concentration and complete the specialized set of classes corresponding to that particular concentration. The concentrations available to students include:
Computer Programming
The Computer Programming concentration trains students to solve real world business problem using a structured programming approach. That approach involves using popular software languages such as C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic and .Net Programming. This curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for employment opportunities in Computer Programming in various sectors of business, including insurance, banking, public utilities, retail, and manufacturing firms.
Computer Networks
The Networking concentration trains students in the area of network infrastructure and security. The program of study for this concentration includes theoretical and practical components, preparing entry-level networking technicians to design, install, monitor, maintain, secure and enhance network infrastructure. Graduates of the program will be able to design and implement an infrastructure consisting of various networking devices and components such as clients, servers, routers, switches, hubs, and cabling systems.
CADD Applications
This concentration allows students to gain the necessary knowledge and specialized skills in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design. The program of study for this concentration includes theoretical and practical components, preparing entry-level CADD operators, drafters and design technicians. Students will be taught electronic drawing setup, principles of computer-based drafting, creating and editing of the most widely used entities, printing and plotting, block management and other utilities in 2D and 3D environments. This track will also provide students with an understanding of the basics of the advanced aspects of three dimensional drafting and solid modeling applications.
Graphic Design
Bramson ORT College is one of the few colleges that offers a concentration in Graphic and Web Design programs. The Graphic Design program is intended to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in visual communications in some of today's most dynamic industries. The fields of advertising, publishing, television, and web design offer great opportunities for trained visual communicators, especially designers.
Students who complete the program are prepared to enter the computing field in variety of environments and industries. The acquired knowledge from Bramson ORT College can also be applied to an array of certifications like CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and Microsoft certification in Windows Server and Office.
Credits obtained by students while in the Computer Information Systems program are transferable to four-year programs at other colleges and universities worldwide. In order to earn the Computer Information Associate Degree at Bramson ORT College, a student must complete at least 60 credits.
